World of Tanks seems to be turning celebrity advertising into an annual event. Last year, Wargaming digitized Chuck Norris and had him giving gifts to players throughout December. That year they managed to win over former California governor and timeless action star Arnold Schwarzenegger for a Hallmark-style Christmas commercial.
“During this magical time of year, your dearest wishes will come true, including those from your childhood,” says the video description. “Go on a vacation trip with our new guest, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Bring the Christmas spirit to you and your loved ones and prepare to celebrate the holiday outreaches in good company.”
The ad itself doesn’t show what’s on offer for Holiday Ops 22. In fact, it shows no tanks at all. Arnold just shows up in a helicopter and makes the day for little Johnny, and then he kind of stands around looking vaguely benevolent, like this Hallmark village is blessed by his very presence.
If it’s like last year, Holid Ops will be giving out 22 daily rewards. We already know that there is an advent calendar event in World of Tanks where a new tank is sold every day, and there should also be 12 days of tankmas (according to The daily jump) with Twitch drops for partner streamers. Expect Wargaming to reveal more details soon.
In other tank news, we’re hoping the guy who posted classified documents on the War Thunder forums doesn’t spend Christmas in a cell. Apparently, someone with access to British Army documents managed to upload multiple documents to the forums to prove that the game’s British tanks don’t work the way they do in real life. As if performance in real life was ever a concern of War Thunder.
The documents were classified, meaning that War Thunder could have gotten into great trouble if they had been circulated far and wide. The developers removed these documents pretty quickly, although you can still read the discussion on the forums.
