The American pop-rock band Against the Current released their latest single “Wildfire” today in collaboration with the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) and two of their casters.
Welsh Andrew ‘Vedius’ Day and North American Daniel ‘Drakos’ star in the new music video launched to promote the start of the LEC season in spring 2022.
The track marks the first time a music artist has collaborated with esports talent from Riot Games on a song. It’s the result of the partnership between Warner Music Group and League of Legends publisher.
The collaborative track features vocals from Vedius and Against the Current singer Chrissy Costanza, as well as a rap interlude from Drakos. The music video itself was shot in Los Angeles.
Against the Current previously produced a song for the League of Legends World Championship 2017 entitled “Legends Never Die”, which had more than 500 million streams worldwide.
Vedius said, “The LEC team have had a lot of fun producing music videos in the past, but partnering with Chrissy and her band Against the Current has been very special for us. They are so well known in the esports world for their massive hit “Legends Never Die,” so working with them on a song was a bit of a “pinch” moment. “
Chrissy Costanza, singer on Against the Current, added, “Bringing Wildfire to life has been a surreal experience from start to finish and every opportunity we have to become part of the League of Legends world is incredible.
“We are very happy to be the soundtrack for LEC 2022! Filming the video was one of the biggest productions we’ve ever been on, so it was a crazy experience. We’d never done night photography or worked with so much pyro. The team behind it was great and we had a lot of fun. “
The LEC is known for producing comedies, music videos and musical sketches, with the broadcast talent producing hits on a regular basis. Last year the team produced “Reckless with my heart”, an emo-inspired tune that garnered more than 3 million views on social platforms and was nominated for Creative Piece of the Year at the Esports Awards 2021.
The team has also produced several rap battles in the past, with their most recent – Mediocre rap battle of the LEC – a total of more than 400,000 views.
The trio Chrissy Costanza plays in Against the Current [vocals], Dan Gow [guitar], and Will Ferri [drums]. The band’s tracks have amassed nearly 1 billion streams and with their pop-rock sound they have sold-out shows on multiple continents.

Last week the LEC team G2 released their first metal track and their own record label.
The LEC will start again on January 14, 2022.
