VALORANT Champions Collection generates over $ 7.5 million for teams

According to VALORANT Esports on, the VALORANT Champions Collection skin line has raised more than $ 7.5 million for teams participating in VALORANT Champions Twitter. It was previously announced that 50% of the proceeds from skin sales would go to the 16 teams at the event. That would mean the package made more than $ 15 million in total in sales. Splitting it evenly would mean that each team would pocket more than $ 460,000 as of now.

The arrangement of additional prize money through crowdfunding for participating teams is new for the VALORANT Champions Tour, but not for esports in general. Games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive use in-game cosmetics to add to the prize pool for their major annual tournaments.

Upcomer reached out to Riot Games and a number of teams participating in Champions to clarify if there were any rules for distributing money between the players and the organization. Upcomer has not yet received a response at the time of publication.

The Champions Collection will leave the in-game store on December 13th. Until then, players can continue to buy the exclusive collection and 50% of the proceeds will continue to go to the participating teams. The bundle has 6,264 VP or about 64 US dollars and contains the Champions 2021 Vandal, Karambit, three Art of Greatness player cards and the title “Champion”. The two weapons in the Champions Collection also have levels. The karambit has three and the vandal has four. Both have a “champions aura” at their highest level (four for the weapon and three for the melee weapon) that lights up when players have the most kills in the game.

This article will be updated as more information becomes available on how teams plan to share skin revenue.
