This is a basic breakdown of the new systems. Essentially, very soon, anyone who will be able to work they way from playing the game initially into the competitive ecosystem. Then there is a very clear way for them to push their way into the top levels of competition.
There are going to be challenger leagues in nearly every major region of the world. Teams in tier 2 will be able to work they way into challengers and from there, they will be able to play into the top international leagues.
These Ascension tournaments will be the path to playing at the top level. There will still be 10 partnered teams though. These teams will automatically be in the EMEA, Americas and Pacific leagues. Look below to see how these teams will get into these leagues for the foreseeable future.
With this announcement comes the next six years of VALORANT laid out for the fans and those trying to play competitively. There will be a new team added in each league every year until they get to 14 teams. There will be one year where no new teams are added. While things can change, this is at least a roadmap to where the VCT is heading.
There is no doubt that this will be met with excitement and some skepticism. The VCT environment has been a hotly debated topic since the game was announced. Many believed the franchising system would be a problem. Instead, it seems as though Riot Games has listened and come up with a hybrid system.
The idea behind this is very interesting and extremely unique to all of esports and sports. Whether it will work or not will be still up for debate, but it is very novel and worth watching as the years go on.
