‘The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience’ was developed by members of the original film team, including Lana Wachowski, together with Epic Games and partners, and is a wild ride into the reality-distorting universe of ‘The Matrix’ with performances by Keanu Reeves and Carrie -Anne Moss.

While you can download it instantly, the Matrix Awakens experience will be unlocked during The Game Awards on Thursday December 9th.

Unreal Engine 5 was announced in May 2020 along with a real-time demo on PlayStation 5 to showcase the true capabilities of the next generation console.

Epic Games’ Fortnite has also switched to Unreal Engine 5 from Chapter 3, making it one of the first games to use the new engine. Fortnite’s Chapter 3 also introduces gameplay and graphics improvements that come with the newer engine, and more are in the pipeline. While UE5 is currently still in Early Access, it is expected to hit the market in early 2022.
