A new switch port is announced and a long-awaited world premiere is hinted at for The Game Awards.
Sunday is usually a little quieter, but it gives us the opportunity to look back on the week. Today we learned that we all play Halo a lot and have been using Steam more of us than usual. We also have new content for Fortnite and a popular adventure and RTS game will get a switch port.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is coming to the Switch next year
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is finally coming to Switch, almost three years after it was first launched in Japan. The surprise announcement was made today along with a trailer that sets the release date to April 14, 2022. 13 Sentinels was a hit when it was released internationally last year, and improved its otherwise slow sales from 2019. It also received a number of awards wins and nominations, so Switch players will have a treat when it comes to the next spring Console appears.
Halo Infinite tops the Xbox charts for most played and free games
Balance has been restored: Halo is once again at the top of the most-played Xbox charts. Despite fan concern when it was revealed last year, Halo Infinite’s multiplayer has been a hit so far. There has been some criticism here and there, but by and large it looks like players are going to love it and relive their glory days in 2000. And that’s before we even have to play through the single player campaign, so Halo’s return to form has probably only just begun.
Steam had the highest concurrent players ever yesterday
It looks like we’ve all played a lot this week. Steam had the most concurrent players of all time yesterday with more than 27 million online players. CS: GO took the crown and surprised absolutely no one. What might come as the most surprising is that New World ranks fifth, although that might be because of its Steam fall sale discount. Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t make it to the top ten, but it is doing incredibly well in sales and potentially moving up the numbers.
The Game Awards had a world premiere that was 2.5 years ago
Time to Speculate – Geoff Keighley left a hint of a major Game Awards reveal. He didn’t say much other than that it took two and a half years to develop. He had previously said there will be 10 new game premieres, but this will likely be the most exciting of them all if we’re already teased about it. The only other detail we need to go into is that there have been delays due to COVID-19, but that doesn’t help narrow it down either.
Fortnite adds Nick Fury to the game
Two things are guaranteed in life: endless MCU content and an endless stream of Fortnite skins. In the perfect partnership of these two truths, Nick Fury was added to the game in case you wanted even more Marvel items in Battle Royale. Fury comes with some backbling, a new pickaxe (which isn’t actually a pickaxe), and a high-tech glider. You can pick him up on Fortnite now.
