The best Xbox Series X / S games for kids

Choosing games for children is difficult. Nobody seems to agree on what’s appropriate and what’s not, and it’s hard to know what the content is like unless you’ve played it yourself. Obviously, you can’t play every game that you buy for the kid in your life so where do you turn to?

Forza Horizon 5 is Your classic racing game. There is a lot to enjoy here, but if you want all you need is a driving game. You can do so in the races the game prepares for you or in the beautiful open world where the developers created stunning cities, Mayan temples and even an active volcano for you to enjoy!

Ori and the Blind Forest is a Metroidvania game in which you play the role of the young hero Ori who dares to venture through the title forest. In our experience, however, children are more resilient than we think they are – after all, children have spent all summer getting through Super Mario World. And if the kid in your life enjoyed this game, there is a sequel: Ori and the Will of the Wisps!

If the kid in your life loves sports, cycling, the outdoors, racing, or a combination of these, you can’t go wrong with Descenders. It’s a game in which You play as an extreme downhill cyclist who overcomes incredible routes and obstacles. The environments are procedurally generated (so they are different every time you play) to keep the game fresh. You can improve your skills, control the smallest movement of your biker, and earn new bikes the better you are.

Sable is an exploration-based open world indie game with a compelling storyline and an even more addicting art style. In it you play the title character, Sable exploring the world through a ritual of passage known as “The Gliding”. If the kid in your life gets bored easily it will be a miracle because there is tons of loot to be found, people to meet and ruins to explore!

Most kids in the west who can play video games have played Minecraft. If the kid you know doesn’t, this is a great idea for them! If so, why not give Minecraft Dungeons a try? It’s a bit like beating Minecraft and Diablo together. This fun twist on a fan favorite game will keep them entertained for hours as they adventure across the world, defeat their enemies, and collect loot!

In this unique game the player controls the main character – called de Blob – who mixes colors and paints the gray city around him. It can best be described as a puzzle platformer. Cuphead

Cuphead is an action platform game in which players have to battle a series of increasingly challenging bosses. Does the art style remind you of those old Mickey Mouse cartoons? It should! The game was hand drawn by a team and it took them over five years to complete the whole thing that way. Your hard work has paid off and created a game that is as fun as it is breathtaking and stylistic.

Psychonauts 2
