The Aston University Valorant Series is said to be “Birmingham’s largest student-run esports tournament without university help”

Aston University has announced that it is hosting its first major eSports tournament organized by students – and it is said to be the largest in Birmingham without university support.

On Sunday, December 19, 2021, the Aston Valorant Series will take place, with more than 60 Aston students taking part in the internal tournament.

What began as an idea of ​​a small circle soon became a reality.

The Aston tournament will be streamed live on Twitch, with “a number of professional casters for the semifinals and finals,” starting at 7pm, and hundreds expected to tune in and watch. Fake and Hanno are on board as roles.

Aston Apes said in a press release, “This will undoubtedly be a flashy, record breaking event for Aston University as we usher in a new era of competitive student esports.

“University teams like Aston Apes express the passion and incredible commitment of students for eSports and are paving a bright future for university eSports.

“Some students have already shown a talent for professional gaming and would like to pursue this further. This tournament can also serve as a podium for those who want to prove their skills and potential.

“This tournament is an equal opportunity for all Aston University students who want to compete in a friendly but competitive environment.”

One student added, “I honestly find it incredible, the tournaments are always a fun and fair way to compete against other students and are a welcome escape from work!”

In 2016, the old Aston Aunties League of Legends team represented the UK in the European University Esports Masters League of Legends tournament after winning the NUEL’s GAME National Championship UK University LoL competition.

Elsewhere, at the professional level of Valorant, the climax of the one-year VCT (Valorant Champions Tour) is taking place. Valorant Champions takes place in Berlin and consists of 16 of the world’s best teams, including Fnatic and Team Liquid – both with British talent.
