Team Liquid and Fnatic have been banned from the final stages of Valorant Champions, but they have shown the world that UK and EU talent can compete with the best

Two of the most successful Valorant teams in the EMEA region have left the final stages of the Valorant Champions tournament in Berlin.

Team Liquid lost in the semi-finals on Saturday 2-0 to their European colleague Acend, while Fnatic lost 2-1 to KRÜ Esports in the quarter-finals on Thursday.

Both Liquid and Fnatic have two British players and a British trainer each – Liquid with L1NK, soulcas and trainers Sliggy and Fnatic with Boaster (Image above courtesy of Fnatic’s Twitter page), Mistic and Trainer Mini.

While it could be seen as disappointing for the region, Liquid and Fnatic exceeded expectations in the group stage where they each went 2-0, showing the world that UK and EU talent can compete with the best.

Both teams tweeted about their progress at Valorant this year, with Liquid saying they overcame many challenges this year and Fnatic saying they gave everything and are “more than proud” to represent the EMEA region at Champions to have.

Elsewhere, the North American team Sentinels took a shock after being eliminated from Group B with one win and two losses. They ended up behind Team Liquid and KRÜ Esports, the organization of Barcelona footballer Sergio Agüero.

KRÜ was defeated 2: 1 by the CIS organization Gambit on Saturday, with the grand finale between Gambit and Acend on Sunday, December 12th from 17:00 GMT.

Valorant Champions started on December 1st in Berlin. With 16 of the world’s top teams and a total prize pool of $ 1 million, it’s essentially a Valorant World Cup, save for the name.

Champions is the highlight of the one-year Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2021 – a one-year tournament series around the world with the best Valorant esports.

Valorant also features a wide variety of British and Irish talent on the broadcasting table including Yinsu Collins, Mitchman, Pansy, Hypoc, Tombizz, RyanCentral and DDK. You can read more about her in our Valorant Champions Broadcast Talent Line-up Newspost here.
