Steam sale sends Battlefield 1 player count higher than Battlefield 2042 > NAG

This weekend, Steam released a weekend deal which offered 88% off Battlefield 1, cutting the price of the AAA game down from R649.95 to a mere R77.99. The sale has clearly gone well as the 6-year-old game is now seeing a resurgence on the charts, reaching Steam’s top 10 list for current most played games, as well as reaching 5th in Steam’s global top-selling games.

Battlefield 1 was first released in 2016 but was only added to Steam in 2020. Battlefield 1 was the biggest, wildest Battlefield game to date, turning back the clock after years of modern combat to offer a ferocious depiction of World War I in all its unhinged desolate Following a string of forgettable modern-day campaigns, Battlefield 1’s War Stories took a different approach, focusing on the individuals on each side of the conflict. This paid off greatly in terms of pace while also capturing the emotions evoked throughout the campaign’s storyline.

Released in November last year, Battlefield 2042 has not had a good first year. For one thing, it has been a lot more controversial among fans of the series due to the changes in gameplay fundamentals. These include the overhaul of the class system as well as being plagued by bugs and content delays. In fact, over 230,000 people have already signed a petition asking EA to allow refunds.

The Battlefield 1 sale is still available on Steambut note that the offer ends at 7 p.m. tonight.
