Still about No Way Home? No, neither do I, but tough.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is finally in the wild, and its first predictable record weekend is on the books. Needless to say, if you made it this far, I’ll assume you either saw No Way Home or you don’t mind if it gets spoiled. Some pretty big spoilers regarding the present and future of Spider-Man lie ahead of us in this article.
As has become the norm in games, movies, and TV shows these days, fans want to know what’s next once something is released. The luxury of the MCU is, most of the time, you’ve been told and sometimes even shown what’s next. It might be a while before we see Spider-Man again, however. Especially since none of his fellow heroes will stop by Peter Parker because nobody knows who he is anymore.
While the wait for Spider-Man 4 has not yet been set, producers Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige confirmed long before No Way Home that there would be at least three more MCU Spidey films. The couple have now returned and have confirmed the work of where the Spider-Man story will go next. Feige told The New York Times You start “actively developing” what’s next for Tom Holland as a web slinger.
Of course, that can mean one of two things. Either we’ll see Spider-Man in an upcoming non-Spidey movie, like his debut in Captain America: Civil War, or work on Spider-Man 4 has already begun. If the latter is the case, it will be a while before Holland gets its very own Spidey movie again. The MCU slate until 2023 has already been revealed, which likely means there will be no Spider-Man movies until at least 2024.
However, No Way Home has opened a number of doors for the Spider-Verse as a whole. It’s not known yet if we’ll see any more of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, let alone the rest of the cast from their respective universes. Maybe next time we’ll see Spider-Man in Venom 3. As for those of you who have to fend off the Spidey Shakes well before 2024 or TBD, don’t forget that Into The Spider-Verse is coming in 2022. not to mention the animated MCU prequel Freshman Year.
