Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe are very mimicked, which means they have a team or two that have proven themselves internationally and then a number of other teams with a lot of potential to develop into a solid squad.
At the beginning of 2022 Dota Pro Circuit, T1 is the only proven squad to show up at The International 10 and finish in seventh place when the organization was first used. The remaining teams have either gone through serious squad mixes, like Fnatic and TNC Predator, or have yet to show their potential.
Prize pool and format
On the way to the DPC winter tour 2022, which runs until January 23, a total of 16 teams are fighting for the chance to represent SEA at the first major and hopefully secure their trip to TI11.
Split into two divisions, teams starting in the upper league try to snag a spot in the Winter Major and DPC points while avoiding an end to the last two, which would cause them to slide into the lower league. Meanwhile, the lower division cadres are aiming to finish under the top two, which means they will be promoted to the upper division at the start of the second tour.
And the two taillights of the lower league will be completely relegated from the regional league and will be replaced by two new teams who will make it through a new open qualification after the winter major.
SEA receives three places in the Winter Major, a direct invitation to the playoffs, one place in the group stage and a wildcard team.
Each regional league will have a total prize pool of $ 280,000 per tour and will give out the same cash prize on each tour. However, the DPC points awarded to teams in the top division and majors will increase as the season progresses. This means that the first place in the Regionalliga Winter Tour will receive 300 DPC points, while the first place in the last tour will receive 500.
Teams to watch out for
Outside of T1, which should be everyone’s early favorite to take home the top seed or at least make it to the Winter Major, SEA is an open region with many cadres creating combinations of talented players.
Fnatic kept Raven, Jabz and Dj but swapped roles to support what the organization thought was the best list, bringing on Armel and Jaunuel Arcilla. And while Fnatic was mostly building on familiar raw materials, TNC picked up a flyer on a new list of younger players, led by Febby and Prieme “PlayHard” Banquil.
Motivate.Trust Gaming and Team SMG are both dangerous lower tier competitors last season, with squads full of seasoned players like JaCkky and MidOne. And the remaining squads such as BOOM Esports, OB.Neon and Execration cannot be overlooked.
The team you are looking forward to the most is in the lower league for the Winter Tour. Fly, kpii and Gabbi lead the newly formed Talon Esports roster, hoping to move up to the top division on the next tour.
With the lineup stacked for the new season, here are all the tables, scores and results for the Southeast Asia 2022 DPC Winter Tour Regional League, which runs from November 30th to January 23rd. You can see the full schedule here.
