Riot plans to empower Gwen, Olaf, Kai’Sa, Varus and Pyke in League Patch 11.24b

The year is drawing to a close and so are the bi-weekly updates for Riot Games’ League of Legends. Before we celebrate the holidays, however, the developers have prepared one final micropatch for summoners to try out before the arrival of 2022.

In patch 11.24b, Riot Phlox outlined some of the goals of the update, including a handful of champions who will receive some buffs. Almost all of the picks in the Notes were premium picks in both the solo queue and the competitive scene, and they could see even more playtime in the near future.

Kai’Sa and Varus, for example, are getting some tweaks after being two of the most competitive choices on the bottom row. Kai’Sa had the highest pick-ban presence of all AD carry champions in the world at 50 percent in season 11. According to the statistics aggregate, it was also the most played champion among professionals with a whopping 2,589 games Games of legends.

Varus, on the other hand, took second place among the ADCs with a pick-ban rate of 34 percent. It wasn’t played nearly as often as Kai’Sa, but it still made a huge impact on both the professional scene and the rankings.

Some people may not be happy to see Olaf on the buff list as he has been a threat to professional and casual gamers all year round. Many felt the wrath of this angry barbarian on stage, and so he was the ninth most suspended professional champion last year. according to His fast-paced jungle, skirmish power, and ability to ignore crowd control in later team fights made him an easy choice for any jungler.

As one of league‘s newest champions, Gwen has drawn a lot of attention from the start with her simple but powerful design. Most teams didn’t want to deal with their massive blast damage and their Hallowed Mist ability which makes them immune to all CC and damage. She was the seventh most banned champion in 2021 and still had a respectable win rate of 54 percent.

Finally, Pyke gets buffs after falling out of the meta. It has only been played 111 times in 2021 but can still make a difference in the right hands. He can find picks with a well-placed bone skewer, play groundbreaking games with his Phantom Undertow stun, and use his ultimate ability to challenge a team fight.

If you’re worried about big buffs being sent out before the New Year starts, don’t worry too much. Since this is a micropatch, we should only make major changes with the first real update next month.
