According to a report by esports.gg, PSG.LGD head coach Zhang “xiao8” Ning has been banned for 30 days for investigating match-fixing allegations. The suspension begins today and Valve has not yet commented on it.
Xiao8 suspended on match-fixing investigation
According to reportYour allegations against xiao8 surfaced a few months ago during International 10. Xiao8’s ex-wife came up Weibo and accused xiao8 of extramarital affairs and gambling. The screenshots contain bets on games that took place months before the International 10. The report also says that other evidence has emerged to debunk the screenshots and that the veracity of either claim is unclear.
The report states that PSG.LGD released on December 1, 2021 Screenshots her communication with Valve on this matter. According to the post, the main reason PSG.LGD asked Valve for an investigation is because of how the match-fixing allegations are affecting their business.
In the same post, PSG.LGD asked Valve for tapes during the grand finale of the International 10 to conduct their own investigation into the matter. PSG.LGD stated that the investigation is being conducted by a private investigative agency in China. In response to inquiries from PSG.LGD, Valve remained confident of The International 10’s outcome.
“We have no reason to believe that the LGD match was fixed or something was done wrong during the finale,” wrote Valve’s Bruno “Bruno” Carlucci in an email response to PSG.LGD. “We are convinced of the integrity of TI10 and its result.”
Although neither party can find any evidence of wrongdoing, xiao8 will be banned for the next 30 days. Valve hasn’t released an official statement on the matter yet, and until then, PSG.LGD will continue to compete in the top tier of the Dota Pro Circuit – albeit without the xiao8 for the next month.
