PS Plus Premium Trials Will Include Trophies And Transferrable Save Data

It is now less than a week until PlayStation’s new tiered PS Plus system rolls out in certain parts of the world, and a slew of new details were revealed about it this week. The biggest headlines have gone to the collection of games officially revealed to be available through Premium, the service’s highest tier, at launch. Buried in the blog detailing all of that is some additional information about its trials, revealing that they will include trophies and anything you achieve can be transferred over if you buy the full game.

In case you haven’t heard about Premium’s trials, as the feature hasn’t been discussed as much as the various games included in each tier, they are effectively demos of some newer games included in your monthly subscription. The trials will last two hours, and as revealed in the latest PlayStationblogyou will be able to unlock trophies as you play, and anything you do can be saved and transferred across should you opt to buy the whole game.

“It’s a great way to try games before you decide to buy, and any trophies and game save data from the trial period will carry-forward if you purchase the game,” the post reads. Those added details might not seem like much, but they could be the difference between a number of people paying the additional monthly fee for Premium rather than just going for Extra. It’s also comforting to know you won’t need to replay the first two hours of the game, or go back and unlock trophies that should have already been earned.

As for how far that two hours will get you, the post also confirms the 120 minutes won’t countdown unless the game is open. That means it will stop counting down if you play for an hour and close the game, freeing you up to use your other complimentary hour whenever you have the chance. Some of the games that will have Premium Trials have already been revealed. The list currently includes WWE 2K22 and Cyberpunk 2077, among others.

Two hours isn’t enough time to complete most games. However, the reveal that trophies will be attainable during the trials will likely look like a challenge to a lot of players. It could even bring with it an all-new form of speedrunning. One in which Premium subscribers attempt to unlock as many of a game’s trophies as possible before their trial expires.
