There has been a lot of agitation among the NieR: Automata community. It seems that one player accidentally discovered a new hidden location and he has no idea how he did it.

We didn’t have to wait long for sadfutago to share another video. This time it enables us to trace the entire route leading to the church.

Before entering the location, we even see a cutscene presenting it. In turn, we can then hear a short exchange of sentences, which was also used in other parts of the game.

In addition, some people have noticed that after entering the room “something” flies past the window at the other end of the church.

Given the complexity of the location, almost no one believes anymore that this could be an amateur modification. Instead, more and more people claim that it is a marketing stunt planned by the developers.

In the presented video, however, some parts of the interface are missing, specifically the “arrows” that should be displayed over objects and doors. This may confirm that we are dealing with an early version of the game.

Original message

  • One NieR: Automata player accidentally discovered an unknown hidden location.
  • Unfortunately, he himself doesn’t know how he accomplished this, and no one knows the answer to this question.
  • Some believe that it is a carefully planned mystification.

A heated discussion has erupted in the NieR: Automata community. This is because one player suddenly discovered a mysterious hidden location that no one had ever stumbled upon before. Moreover, earlier the game’s creator, Yoko Taro, claimed that all of the game’s secrets had already been unveiled.

A new location appearing out of nowhere

The whole story of the discovery of a new location began two months ago. It was then that the following post appeared on Reddit, published by a new user by the handle sadfutago. He asked a question about how to get to the “church,” which is a hidden location in Copied City.

He managed to enter it, but apparently did so by accident. This is because his colleague is unable to get into the room.

Unfortunately, the players who wrote him back did not know what he was talking about. The description of the location presented by the player did not match any room they knew of. So they asked him to provide screenshots showing the area.

Some time later, sadfutago did indeed post two photos of the “church” on the forum, and in time he even shared a short Videoin which he shows how he enters the location.

This sparked lively, but at the same time varied reactions among other players. Some immediately stated that they were witnessing the discovery of a new secret in NieR: Automata.

Many, however, were skeptical. These players claimed that it was merely a clever hoax. The evidence for this was supposed to be the fact that the video was recorded on a phone and the fact that the video cuts off the moment the player enters the location. Thus, it does not depict its interior.

The whole affair would probably have quieted down if not for the fact that yesterday sadfutago posted another footage on Reddit. This time, however, it is a properly recorded gameplay, and the video does not end after entering the location.

The player not only crosses the hidden door, but also goes deeper into the room, where he finds a ladder that leads to another long corridor.

Great discovery or mystification?

Sadfutago’s recent post caused much consternation among the NieR: Automata community. Many gamers were already sure that it was just a hoax, but the publication of the long video that accurately depicts the entrance to the location has reignited their doubts anew.

After all, it’s hard to say how actually someone would make such a perfect mystification. NieR: Automata is a game in which still no one has managed to modify the map. The author of the hoax would therefore have to have skills beyond anything available to the rest of the community.

It may therefore turn out that one person in the whole world has accidentally made a unique discovery and doesn’t know how he did it. Of course, this leads the rest of the players to a serious headache.

However, there may be a couple of other solutions to this puzzle. After all, one Reddit user has found old graphics from an early version of the game. They show a cutaway of a location in Copied City.

It differs significantly from the rooms presented in the footage, but it includes a church-like building. Thus, some speculate that the author of the video has an early version of the game and is using it to get some publicity.

Some gamers, however, have yet another theory. NieR: Automata will soon make its debut on Switch. Promptly, the whole discovery is supposed to be a carefully planned promotional stunt directed by the developers.

However, this theory requires donning a tinfoil hat, and besides, it is not supported by any evidence. In essence, then, we are still without any answers.

The only thing left to do is to wait for more footage or photos published by sadfutago and hope that, together, the players will solve this intriguing mystery.
