Next LoL Battle Pass event with a new mission point system

With the next League of Legends Battle Pass event on the horizon, Debonair 2021, Riot Games has announced changes to how points work for missions and token objectives. The new mission point system brings all Matchmade LoL games to an even level, while the point rewards in the queues of Teamfight Tactics and Co-op vs. AI are reduced.

Debonair 2021 is just around the corner

With the 2021 World Cup coming to an end earlier this month, League of Legends has been without an active event for several weeks. While Riot has filled the void with Arcane, his great new animated series on Netflix, it’s time for the next Battle Pass event. Debonair 2021 will be released on December 9th. The event will focus on a chic addition to the Debonair skin line that has a silver and green aesthetic. Champions getting new skins include Leona, LeBlanc, Draven, Malzahar, Zed, Master Yi, and Brand. Brand will also receive a Prestige Edition skin.

Ahead of the Debonair 2021 release, Riot Games is changing how LoL players earn points for event missions. On a gameplay blog on Friday Riot gave the following explanation for the upcoming changes: “For all future League of Legends events, points will be based on how much time you spend playing instead of how many games You play. We converted the general objectives for some missions based on the average 30 minute PvP Summoner Rift game. “

Essentially, this boils down to the fact that players will no longer be able to spam faster cards like URF, ARAM, and Nexus Blitz in order to farm tokens faster. Players will also receive fewer tokens in Teamfight Tactics. Meanwhile, a point system based on the time played ensures that longer Summoner’s Rift games, like standard blind pick or leaderboards, are scaled.

Changes to mission points for LoL Pass events

Riot has announced the following changes to the point system for event missions:

  • Weekly Win Missions (old): Earn 40 points. Players receive 5 points for a win and 2 points for a loss.
  • Weekly Victory Missions (New): Earn 1,650 points. Players get 6 points per minute in games they win and 4 points per minute in games they lose.
  • Bullet missions (old): Play 30 games.
  • Bullet Missions (New): Earn 4,500 points. Players get 6 points per minute in games they win and 4 points per minute in games they lose.
  • Token Bank Missions (old): Earn a preset number of tokens after every game. For example 6 tokens after a URF gain and 3 tokens after a URF loss.
  • Token Bank Missions (New): Receive 20 tokens for every 400 points earned.
  • There was no mention of Milestone missions and whether the scoring system changed there.

The most significant change here affects the token bank missions. While players used to be guaranteed a certain number of tokens after each game, the token bank is now being converted into a more traditional mission.

In the old system, the average player (50% win rate) would earn 20 tokens every 3.5 games of Summoner’s Rift or every four games in ARAM and event modes like URF. Under the new time-based system, players will have to play an average of 80 minutes of game time to earn the same 20 tokens, regardless of which queue players choose.

Overall, players shouldn’t feel much of a difference in how quickly they earn tokens. The new system simply eliminates the variance of fast or long games and awards mission points uniformly based on the LoL time played.

Changes to mission points in ARAM and LoL event modes

In addition to the above mission changes, Riot also announced several changes to how tokens and points are counted through each queue. First off, all League of Legends queues, like ARAM, URF, One For All, Nexus Blitz, and Ultimate Spellbook, are scaled to reward points at the same rate as Summoner’s Rift games.

Previously, Summoners’ Rift gave 8 tokens after a win and 4 tokens after a loss. Event modes gave 6 tokens after a win and 3 after a loss. Now the event modes give the same rate as SR: 6 points per minute if you win and 4 points per minute if you lose.

When it comes to the Token Bank missions this is a buff. At the same time, this is a nerf over point-based missions like Weekly Wins. Because these event modes have faster play times than regular Summoner’s Rift, they were the more efficient way to earn points quickly. Since these queues are placed on the same level as Summoners’ Rift, players will no longer be able to take advantage of this additional efficiency.

Standard Teamfight Tactics nerfed, Hyper Roll improved

Maybe the one most One efficient way to farm LoL event tokens was Teamfight Tactics. Players could spam the queue and even give up early to amass tokens. As a result, Riot has cut the rate at which tokens are issued in TFT by half. “While TFT [games] continue to count towards league missions, they now give points at a lower price, ”explained Riot. “This change will move the rewards for league events to rewards, well, league Games. “

While fans of Riot’s famous auto-battler will no doubt be disappointed with these nerfs, there is some good news too. Both the hyper-roll and double-up variety queues now award points for league missions. Even with the reduced dot rates in TFT, this is still a shallow buff. Hyper Roll and Double Up haven’t awarded points in the past, but now they will.

Co-op vs. AI Nerfed

Since co-op vs. AI technically qualifies as a “match-made queue”, players could previously spam the mode in order to sprint through milestone missions or weekly victories. While the queue didn’t give away the bonus tokens after each game, it did give progress towards point-based or game-based missions like the Orb mission, which requires players to play 30 games. This was especially helpful for those who lost time all month and ended up cramming.

While the co-op versus AI queue still doesn’t provide progress for token bank missions, it has been toned down for progress-based missions as well. Compared to the 6 and 4 point system in Summoner’s Rift, Co-op vs. AI mission points are only awarded at a ratio of 2 and 1, making it 33% as effective as normal games and by far the least efficient LoL queue to get around Make progress.
