Jeff Gerstmann, a well-known and respected gaming journalist, launched a real carousel of speculation during his recent program Video Gaming Done Right. According to the informant, the team responsible for Minecraft Dungeons is working on the next spin-off to Minecraft. For the time being, this revelation should be treated as a rumor, but the fact that it came from a well-known person gives a dose of optimism.
Gerstmann mentioned Mojang’s secret work during the following broadcast on Twitch (information about the spin-off starts at around 1h19min mark of the stream). According to what he announced during the broadcast, he came into possession of some footage from the yet unannounced game, which suggests that the mysterious production is a real-time strategy.
According to Gertsmann, fans will be able to control a character that resembles the iconic Steve from the classic Minecraft. In addition, the RTS will offer third person view and the player’s task will be to give orders to units in a clash with enemy Piglins. All this will be accompanied by a storyline with cutscenes.
“I don’t know if this will be announced at the Microsoft presentation (…) It seems to be a real-time strategy. You control Steve there and manage units from a third person perspective. There will be Piglins, there is a storyline and a large number of cutscenes,” Gertsmann informed during his broadcast.
When will the announcement be made?
The journalist supposes that Perhaps this Sunday, during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, we will learn the official details about this mysterious project of Microsoft and Mojang.
“These reports I’ve seen are largely unfinished, after all the game hasn’t been announced yet. It looks like it’s gone far enough for Microsoft to announce it this week,” Gerstmann added.
So there’s nothing left for us to do but wait for more news.
