Hello Games is preparing version 4.0 of No Man’s Sky, although the new big update will be slightly different from previous ones.

Since its launch, No Man’s Sky, once one of the biggest disappointments of the industry, has transformed into a title presented as the perfect example of a game with excellent post-launch support. This is thanks to the numerous big updates that keep coming out – although the next big patch is expected to be a bit different from the previous ones.

During an interview with Eurogamer Sean Murray (leader of Hello Games) had a lot to say about the future of No Man’s Skyincluding about the game’s imminent release on Switch. At the same time as the debut on Nintendo’s platform – namely on October 7 – the developer will release update 4.0.

So far big updates for No Man’s Sky involved the addition of new mechanics or content to the game, alluded to by hype names (NEXT, Beyond, Origin Etc.). However, version 4.0 will bring with it, first and foremost, extensive improvements to the “balance, difficulty level and structure” of NMS.

New game modes

This is not to say that there will be a lack of any new features. Along with its debut on Switch, Hello Games will add a new gameplay mode, called Relaxed. It will be available both at the beginning of new gameplay and on old save files. This option will enable players to focus on the exploration of the No Man’s Sky universe and exploring the story background, without having to worry about the survival aspects.

NMS will also receive the ability to create your own games, with which we will adjust not only the difficulty level, but also the gameplay mechanics or controls. This will enable the users to play on their own terms.

Tutorial and Survival to be revamped

In addition to that, Murray mentioned rebuilding the tutorial (to make it more consistent after six years of updates) and survival mode, expanding the inventory space, and raising the maximum level of ships and weapons (which will enable you to upgrade them more than before).

Probably there will be many other changes – after all, a new number at the beginning of the game version obliges. Nevertheless, Murray made it clear that No Man’s Sky will not receive a larger content package in patch 4.0as was the case with previous major updates.
