Legendary Unreal Could Get a Remaster if Fans Support Nightdive

Nightdive, a studio specializing in refreshing old hits, wants to develop a remaster of the first Unreal..

Let us remind that the first unreal was released in May 1998, and in 1999 we’ve seen the release of the Return to Na Pali expansion.

In recent years Epic Games has severely neglected the brand. Some have maliciously commented that it would be nice if Unreal Engine technology was used to make an unreal game. In the previous decade the studio tried to resurrect the multiplayer branch of the series, creating a new Unreal Tournament but development of that project was abandoned a few years ago and it never made it out of the early alpha stage.

Currently, Epic Games is concentrating all its efforts on Fortnite and Unreal Engine, so the studio is not expected to return to its classic brand. Therefore, it would be a good idea to let Nightdive develop a remaster.

Waiting for a potential remaster of unreal it’s worth going back to the original, especially with mods.

If you would like to play unreal on PC today, you can choose from several recommended modifications, which will make the return to this classic enjoyable. If you simply want to play the game comfortably on modern PCs, use these:

  1. DirectX11 Renderer is a project that refreshes the game’s renderer. It provides better graphics and optimization, as well as greater compatibility with modern operating systems.

In turn, if you would like to develop your own remaster, it is worth using the 227 Patch project, which also upgrades the game engine, while expanding the possibilities of modifying it. This enables us to install two mods that improve textures:

  1. Unreal227 HD Texture Pack
  2. High resolution unreal skins
