JessieVash and Team Secret leave VALORANT Champions after showing off their “Filipino FPS skills”

At the age of 31, Jessie “JessieVash” Cristy Cuyco has seen a lot during his time as an eSports player at DOTA, Overwatch and now VALORANT. At his first VALORANT event with his new organization Team Secret, JessieVash and his teammates made history as the first Southeast Asian team to qualify for the VALORANT Champions knockout phase – and were then quickly followed by X10 CRIT.

While he was doing it exit lost the tournament 0-2 to Acend in the quarterfinals one series later, he said he had a happy experience and was just glad to be at the event after missing the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 3 Masters Berlin due to travel restrictions .

“We are very happy to be here,” said JessieVash in a press conference after the game. “We finally have time to show off our FPS skills, the Filipino FPS skills, and I hope it continues like this next year.”

JessieVash’s esports career

As a participant in the first DOTA 2 The International, he said this loss was different from the prestigious Valve event. The first TI was a direct invitation and he didn’t have time to practice before the event, largely due to the high ping of his region playing the new game. He compared the defeat with Team Secret at the first major international VALORANT tournament with defeats later in his DOTA 2 career at similarly tiered events in Asia.

“I think any Filipino team will improve a lot by watching the champions and us now. We can compete with the rest of the world, ”said JessieVash.

But with her elimination, Team Secret will return home or with their families. JessieVash said he will travel to Italy to be with his wife and child and hopes to continue playing for Team Secret in 2022.

As for the other SEA team at Champions, JessieVash said he believes they have a chance to beat Masters Berlin masters, Gambit Esports. X1o defeated North America’s Envy and qualified for the quarterfinals.

“I think everyone has a chance now,” said JessieVash. “We played against Vikings who almost beat Gambit and we also beat Gambit on a map and I think X10 has a pretty good chance as they have the momentum they want after beating a stronger team to have. I think you have a chance. “
