Insomnia Gaming Festival confirmed for April 2022, the first physical Insomnia event in over two and a half years

The Insomnia Gaming Festival – one of the largest gaming gatherings in the UK – will finally return next year with a physical event.

Insomnia68 will be held again at the Birmingham NEC, this time from April 15-18, 2022. It will be the first physical Insomnia event in over two and a half years, with previous events being canceled after the end of 2019 due to the Covid pandemic.

The organizers announced on the official Twitter account of the Insomnia Gaming Festival tonight:

Tickets will go on sale Monday, December 20, 2021, but ticket information and prices have not yet been revealed.

Insomnia is of course a well-known gaming festival that includes a family-friendly expo area, stage activities, a pub quiz and more, as well as a BYOC (bring your own computer) LAN arcade game room, esports tournaments and more. Before Covid, the events hosted amateur and casual competitions in games such as League of Legends, CSGO, PUBG and others.

The last Insomnia – Insomnia65 – took place in August 2019. If the next events had happened after that, this upcoming Insomnia would have been Insomnia70, so it’s not clear why the organizers chose the name Insomnia68.

Before Covid, insomnia events took place twice a year – once during the Easter holiday and also during the August holiday.

Earlier this year, SuperNova Capital acquired Insomnia from previous owners GAME, the UK video game retailer, and Insomnia founder Craig Fletcher joined the Supernova executive team to help restart the event.

Esports News UK interviewed Craig Fletcher about insomnia earlier this summer.

Of course, Insomnia isn’t the only LAN gaming event in the UK. Epic.LAN will take place as early as 2021 – the last Epic.LAN (34) took place in Kettering at the end of October.

We will update this article with more information such as ticket prices as soon as they are announced.
