The original Battle Royale game, which started one of the world’s most popular game genres, has decided to go free-2-play from 2022.
Krafton, the developers of the ever-popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, have announced that the original PUBG will be Free-2-Play.
The developer dropped that Announcement trailer at the Game Awards 2021 and said that starting January 12th the game will have two tiers: Free Basic Account and Battlegrounds Plus Account.
The basic account is completely free and offers access to “most” game functions. While the Battleground Plus upgrade costs a one-time fee of $ 12.99 and has the following benefits:
- Bonus 1,300 G-COIN
- Survival Master XP + 100% Boost
- Career – rider medal
- Ranking mode
- Custom match functionality
- In-game items, including the Captain’s Camo set, which includes a hat, stealth mask, and stealth gloves
Those who have previously paid for the game will be automatically upgraded to Battlegrounds Plus and will also receive a special souvenir package that includes the Battle Hardened Costume Skin Set, the Shackles and Shanks Legacy Pan, and the Battle Hardened Legacy Type label.
It’s understandable why Krafton decided to keep Ranked Mode as part of the Battleground Plus package, as free access to Ranked Modes allows Cheaters to create unlimited accounts and detract from the balance of the game. A flat fee of $ 13 per account will make it expensive for fraudsters to get banned and create new accounts.
Krafton also opens a Pre-registration page to try out the new version of the game in the weeks leading up to the Free-2-Play release. The developers are also adding some new activities that will allow you to earn free in-game items that will be carried over when the game goes free-2-play.
