Firelight Ekko skin for League of Legends updated: Arcane-themed in-game skin for Ekko now on PBE again as of February 2022

Update (February 1st 2022): Riot KDan, skins sound designer on League of Legends at Riot Games, posted an update on Twitter showing off Firelight Ekko’s new features including fresh sound effects:

Firelight Ekko is now on the PBE (Public Beta Environment) for players to test out.

Update (December 15th 2021): Riot has delayed the recently announced Firelight Ekko skin following criticism from parts of the League of Legends community.

Riot Katana said in an update on Reddit: “We completely agree that SFX are a standard and expected part of an Epic (1350) skin, and leaving them out was an unfortunate mistake on our part due to a miscommunication internally. While we do everything we can to avoid delaying content, we’re going to hold off from shipping this skin for a few patches to work on adding new SFX. This also means the skin will come off of PBE for now.”

Riot will also be including a hoverboard and mask Homeguard animation to go live with the new SFX when it’s ready.

Original article (December 7th):

A Firelight Ekko skin is coming to League of Legends, giving players an Arcane-style look and feel for the boy who shattered time.

Ekko recently featured in the Arcane animated series, which went live on Netflix in November and received glowing reviews from critics and fans.

Firelight Ekko will hit the PBE (Public Beta Environment) in League of Legends soon. It’s an epic skin worth 1,350RP.

The announcement was made on the official League of Legends Twitter account for the UK, Ireland and Nordics today:

This video also shows off Ekko’s mask and hoverboard from Arcane during his recall animation, as can be seen above.

Firelight Ekko also comes with chromas:

This new Firelight skin means Ekko will now have eight skins in League of Legends, as well as his base skin. The most recent skin, Pulsefire Ekko, was released in May 2020.

Riot also announced a couple of other new skins hitting the PBE soon: Elderwood Gnar and Elderwood Rek’Sai:

Finally, an updated splash art for the old Goth Annie skin was confirmed:

There are other Arcane-themed skins in League of Legends, for Vi, Jayce, Caitlyn and Jinx.

And earlier this month, Riot Games announced a skin for Arcane villain Silco is being made for League of Legends auto battler game Teamfight Tactics (TFT), though there is no news as to whether he may be added to League of Legends itself or not.

Riot hinted that there may be other outsiders joining the game in the future – “maybe some from outside of Runeterra entirely” – implying that characters from Riot’s FPS Valorant could join TFT.

The other most recent skin line in League of Legends – new Debonair skins – was announced in November.
