On Saturday, Excel Esports announced its roster for the VCT 2022 Open Qualifier after checking in for the event. These include the reported pickups by Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski, Oscar “ozzy” Scott, Dragan “elllement” Milanović and Egor “chiwawa” Stepanyuk. The signatures have yet to be confirmed but will be updated here if they are.
Excel lock-in list for Open Qualifiers
This list has been revealed on the official VCT websitewhere teams have to check in their squads before the start of the season. The expected members of Excel Esports will be there, from player Muhammad “Moe40” Hariff to coaches Sam “Fields” Greenfield and Jimmy “Jumpy” Berndtsson. Here, however, the rumored movements of paTiTek, Ozzy, Ellement and Chiwawa solidify.
For paTiTek, after having played well at G2 Esports, this is another fresh start. After joining Team Heretics and going on inactivity, this gives him another opportunity to prove himself as a player for the 2022 season.
Ozzy first made a name for himself as a substitute for G2 Esports at the VCT Stage 2 Challengers 2 event, losing to Fnatic. Since then he has joined the NoPoaching team together with his teammate elllement. Regarding elllement, he was MVP of the VCT 2021 EU Stage 1 Challengers 1 event for Team Monkey Business. After playing for OG, he switched to NoPoaching as well.
Last but not least, chiwawa recently played for ninjas in pajamas and won both VCT 2021 EU Stage 1 Challengers 1 and 2. However, he has been inactive in their roster since November 2021. Now, like his former inactive player paTiTek, he has another chance to put his skills to the test in Europe.
Excel’s future
With these Excel Esports roster pickups confirmed for the Open Qualifier, only the official signings remain. Combined with previous reports, this has the potential to become Excel’s 2022 launch plan. The squad pickups consist of two seasoned but formerly inactive players on the list, along with two new players. Now it’s only a matter of time before we see this squad play together for the first time.
