Excel Esports co-founder Kieran Holmes-Darby is leaving the organization

Kieran Holmes-Darby, one of the co-founders of the UK organization Excel Esports, left the company today.

He leaves Excel in a good position as one of the UK’s largest and most well-known esports organizations with a place in the League of Legends LEC and top professional players like Fortnite, FIFA and Valorant.

Kieran posted a warm farewell video message on the occasion of his departure.

Kieran said, “I will no longer be an employee at Excel and will no longer be involved in the day-to-day running of the brand.

“As of today, I don’t know what my ongoing relationship with the Excel brand will be as it will depend on a few things, but I expect an official announcement in due course.

“All that’s left to say now is thank you.”

Today’s news means that Excel’s two original co-founders – Kieran and his brother Joel Holmes-Darby – are no longer with the company.

In October 2020, Kieran’s brother and co-founder of Excel Esports, Joel Holmes-Darby, left the organization before joining Method for ten months. Last October Joel left method To become a full-time dad and get his degree in cybersecurity.

Joel said on Twitter that he and Kieran could potentially reunite for a new company in the future:

Today’s news comes three months after Tim Reichert was named Excel Esports’ new esports director, with Kieran Holmes-Darby’s job moving from esports director to co-founder. Esports News UK suspects Kieran may have been on a gardening vacation in the last few months prior to today’s announcement.

Kieran also took the time to thank his brother and the Excel staff, highlighting some of the accomplishments Excel has made over the years.

Yesterday, former Excel Esports social media manager Nathan Edmonds announced that he had moved to the UK gaming job platform Hitmarker as head of community and marketing.

Kieran and Joel had sold large chunks of Excel over the years to raise money and grow the business, but lost direct control over it in the process. Whatever comes next for them, Excel will always be part of their legacy, and they have shown the rest of the UK esports industry that with the right vision and work ethic, you can build something successful – from the ground up.
