ESL World Ranking CSGO – December 2021

Currently, the largest tournament organizer in Professional CSGo – ESL holds several tournaments throughout the year, the most prestigious being IEM Katowice, IEM Cologne (previously ESL ONE: Cologne) and 2 seasons of the ESL Pro League.

The results of these events have a direct impact on the ESL world rankings and with DreamHack events under the ESL banner in 2021 they too played a role in the overall standings.

As updated on December 13th, the teams in the ESL world rankings are as follows:

  • # 1 – Born to Win – 2579 points
  • # 2 – Team Vitality – 2089 points
  • # 3 – G2 Sports – 1284 points
  • # 4 – Ninjas in pajamas – 1230 points
  • # 5 – Gambit – 1022 points
  • # 6 – Heroic – 910 points
  • # 7 – Virtus.pro – 838 points
  • # 8 – team fluency – 631 points
  • # 9 – FaZe Clan – 615 points
  • # 10 – Astralis – 595 points

NaVi are in a class of their own at the top with the outstanding year they had. Winning the Intel Grand Slam Season 3 went a long way as they won the IEM Cologne, DreamHack Masters Spring and ESL Pro League S14 in 2021 to take them to the top. They also took 2nd place in the IEM case RMR.

Vitality with their IEM winter win, in which ZywOo was MVP, climbed to 2nd place with 2089 points and a second place as EPL S14 also helped in an otherwise gloomy year.

G2 eSports continued its trend of making it to the finals and falling at the last hurdle, especially at the IEM Cologne. They also finished in the top 6 at the IEM Fall RMR and were semi-finalists at the IEM Winter to maintain their top 3 spots.

NiP won their first IEM event in the form of the IEM Fall RMR after adding dev1ce. combined with a final at the IEM Winter, they are fourth in the ESL world rankings.

The second best team of the year in CS: GO and Valorant – Gambit eSports finished the year in 5th place. They won the IEM Katowice 2021, the IEM Summer 2021, reached the final of the EPL S13 and won the IEM case CIS rmr by 1022 points to win and fight for the best team title with NaVi for 2022.

The last ESL event is over and apart from the expiry there will be no major changes to the ESL world rankings in the foreseeable future. The next ESL event would be IEM Katowice 2022, which starts on February 15th to kick off the new season of Professional CS: GO.
