Reviews in sports games are a fun thing. Since they are gradually revealed in the run-up to a game’s release, they tend to spark all sorts of lively debate and even complaint. Sometimes by the players themselves. If you disagree with any of the player ratings in FIFA 22, EA Sports’ annual Team of the Year process gives you an opportunity to correct it.
The 11 players who make it into the Team of the Year 2021 will be converted to limited FUT cards. The chance to turn a player you consider underrated into a potentially much better player. However, you cannot simply vote for everyone. You may want to add a Declan Rice with a rating of 91 to your FUT ranks, but unfortunately that won’t happen.
EA Sports has reduced the field to 80 nominees to alleviate the chaos in the voting process and prevent a Boaty McBoatface-type situation. The nominees were announced in groups, first attackers, then midfielders, and finally defenders and goalkeepers. All 80 can now be viewed so that FIFA players can decide where to cast their votes.
80 players may not sound like much, but it might take a lot more narrowing than you think. If you’re struggling to separate some key names from your bib numbers, the breakdown has detailed statistics on each individual player. Can’t choose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi? Split the decision by deciding who scored the most goals. Although, let’s face it, although it might be a little predictable, both should be in there.
Voting for the EA Sports FIFA Team of the Year for the past 12 months begins on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. You have just over a week to cast your vote. The elections close at 2:59 a.m. in January. 18, 2022. Votes will be counted and the Team of the Year will be announced at a later date. Limited edition FUT cards of all 11 players will be made available later in the year in case the process matches the previous Team of the Year selection.
