Yesterday we saw the release of Dying Light 2, Techland’s latest game. Looking at Steam, the project’s debut was a huge success.
Dying Light 2 with impressive activity values on Steam
In the hottest moment of the starting day dying light 2 was played on Steam by 245,553,000 people at a time. This is a very impressive result – it is five times higher than the activity record of The first part.
Of course, the all-time leader in the single player category remains Cyberpunk 2077 resulting in more than a million concurrent players, but this was a one-time phenomenon and no single player game in the near future has a chance to match that number.
Important, dying light 2 will almost certainly break the launch day record today or tomorrow, as single player games usually perform best on the first weekend after release.
Ever better player ratings on Steam
With the influx of new players, the game’s reception is also improving. Currently, 79% of user reviews on Steam are positive. Yesterday, a few hours after takeoff, it was still 76%.

Visual comparison between old and new generation consoles
Finally, an interesting video from Digital Foundry should be mentioned. It provides a visual comparison between different console versions of dying light 2. It allows us to see how the game looks on the last generation consoles i.e. Xbox One, Xbox One X, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro and offers a comparison of these editions with the PlayStation 5 edition.
Owners of older hardware will be happy about that dying light 2 very well on their consoles. The game has noticeably weaker graphics, but it still looks attractive and performs satisfactorily in most situations.
