One of the most anticipated rosters was unveiled today, with DAMWON KIA having its official LCK roster for 2022 on its Twitch channel.
The LCK team welcomes three new players, the former Gen.G top lane Noh “Burdol” Tae-Yun and the lower lane of Nongshim RedForce 2021, Seo “deokdam” Dae-Gil and Kim “Kellin” Hyung-Gyu.
Jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-Bu and Midlaner Heo “ShowMaker” Su, who have played for the organization for several seasons, will remain in the roster for 2022. Her contracts expired this year and have been renegotiated to keep her on the team.
Although many fans expected Jang “Nuguri” Ha-Gwon to return to the top lane with the team after his 2020 World Cup win, it was rookie Burdol who was selected to join DWG KIA. Nuguri, who has left FPX, has yet to reveal his team for the upcoming season.
DWG KIA dominated the 2021 season, won both LCK splits and was MSI runner-up. However, they ended the year on a bitter note when they hoisted the Summoner’s Cup for the second straight year but ultimately lost to EDward Gaming in a full series of five games in the World Cup final.
While most DK players switched before the next season, Lee “Daeny” Dae-In and Lee “Zefa” Jae-Min, who coached the team when they won the World Cup in 2020, returned after just one in last summer share the organization back with T1. In addition, the experienced trainer Kim “kkOma” Jeong-Gyun will stay with the team.
While DWG KIA will have a different face next season, they nonetheless kept some solid members on their side to defend their LCK titles – and look to the World Cup stage in 2022.
