Astralis confirmed the official departure of three of its members – Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Emil “Magisk” Reif and trainer Danny “zonic” Sørensen. The trio’s contracts were due to expire in January, but they left the organization prematurely.

They are expected to join the Vitality team since reported by in November to replace Richard ‘shox’ Papillon, Jayson “Kyojin” Nguyen Van and head coach Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam. Vitality has already confirmed the release of the three after leaving the BLAST Premier World Finals.

The journey for Dupreeh, Magisk and Zonic ends with Astralis after spending 5 years with the organization (3 for Magisk) and winning every trophy imaginable that started the most dominant team era in CS: GO. dupreeh and zonic won 4 majors with Astralis, most from each team or player, 3 of which came in a row. Her first, ELEAGUE Major Atlanta, was won in 2017, with ‘kjaerbye’ still on the team.

After signing Magisk in 2018, Astralis went on a run that will be difficult to repeat for many years to come. Together they won the FACEIT London Major 2018, IEM Katowice Major 2019 and StarLadder Berlin Major 2019, along with a whole range of trophies from the ESL Pro League to the BLAST Pro Series and of course as the first team to ever win the Intel Grand Slam .

Things looked bleak for Astralis in 2020, especially when Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander and Andreas ‘xyp9x’ Højsleth were on leave. But they ended the year on a high note, winning the ESL Pro League S12, DreamHack Masters Winter 2020 and IEM Global Challenge to be # 1 Team of the Year again.

Unfortunately, the shape wouldn’t replicate until 2021. The team only had 1 Grand Finals appearance, BLAST Premier Global Finals 2020 and zero trophies. At this point, AWPer Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz decided to step down and join NiP. As the year went on, things didn’t get better as Astralis looked weak compared to the best in the world. The team couldn’t make it to the major’s playoffs either, and that was it for the core.

Shortly thereafter, Benjamin ‘blameF’ Bremer and Chrisitan ‘k0nfig’ Wiencke were signed on along with coach ‘ave’ who saw ‘dupreeh’, ‘Magisk’ and ‘zonic’ on the bench when they decided not to renew their contracts.

  • Alexander “ave” Holdt (trainer)
  • Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen (on the bench)
