Here’s a College Basketball Midweek Preview Week 9 of the best games of the week. These include Texas Tech Big 12 matches at Baylor, Iowa State in Kansas and an SEC fight from Auburn, Alabama.
(19) Texas Tech at (1) Baylor
Texas Tech wins against Kansas without Terrance Shannon Jr. and Kevin McCullar. First off, her ability to slow Baylor’s dynamic offensive will be a daunting task. Now it takes Clarence Nadolny’s energy and scoring for Texas Tech. Bryson Williams showed up inside and has to produce against the Baylor Bigs. If Kevin McCullar returns it will give Texas Tech a big boost on the offensive and bring stability to the offensive. Texas Tech’s ability to take on the Baylor Defense will be vital throughout this time.
Baylor has proven by this point in the season that they are the best team in the country. This starts with James Akinjo being a very good distributor and Adam Flagler becoming a top scorer for Baylor. Additionally, the depth of LJ Cryer and Jonathan Tchatchoua shows the capabilities of Baylor as a whole. The versatility on the wings with Kendall Brown and Jordan Sochan adds to their transition play and defensive.
Baylor’s ability to be elite on both sides with James Akinjo’s game will lead Baylor to victory over Texas Tech.
Matchup to Watch: Bryson Williams vs. Jonathan Tchatchoua
Prediction: Baylor 77 Texas Tech 68
(15) Iowa State in (9) Kansas
State of Iowa
Iowa State loses to Oklahoma and has another tough street game in Kansas. Now it starts with her ability to defend Kansas halfway up. To be able to slow down Ochai Agbaji’s and Christian Braun’s goal. The backcourt for Iowa State has to be great with Tyrese Hunter and Izaiah Brockington. If others can move up for the state of Iowa, Kansas has a chance.
Kansas took a road loss at Texas Tech to bounce back against the state of Iowa. First, David McCormack must be restored so that Kansas can open the remainder of its offensive. Furthermore, Christian Braun and Ochai Agbaji’s game was an elite that needed that to continue. Also, having the versatility of Jalen Wilson that is consistent is critical for Kansas. Remy Martin must continue to fit on Kansas offense and have his moments when necessary.
Kansas will have a big comeback in this game against Texas Tech, led by Remy Martin.
Matchup to Watch: Tyrese Hunter vs. Remy Martin
Prediction: Kansas 75 Iowa State 65
(4) Auburn in (24) Alabama
Playing like any other team in the country, Auburn has arguably the best offensive in college basketball. This starts with the versatility and skill of Jabari Smith. Plus, with KD Johnson, he has one of the toughest guardians in the country on both ends. Wendell Green and Allen Flanigan’s shooting skills add to the depth of Auburn. Jaylin Williams and Walker Kessler’s forecourt was also extremely good for Auburn. The pace of Auburn makes them one of the best teams in the country.
Alabama has a great opportunity to show what kind of team they are, despite their inconsistencies. Now Jaden Shackleford’s game sets the tone with his shooting ability. Just like the game of Jahvon Quinerly, whose pace and finish are key to Alabama. Keon Ellis’ game will be vital on the defensive and will be an elite in transition for Alabama. JD Davison and Noah Gurley’s banking game must be good for Alabama to stand a chance in this game.
Auburn will take to the streets and get away with a great win over Alabama led by KD Johnson.
Matchup to Watch: Jaden Shackleford versus KD Johnson
Prediction: Auburn 88 Alabama 84
