Cloud9 is unlikely to have a full list for the lock-in tournament

Cloud9 fans are now looking the other way because there is only bad news here.

As the lock-in tournament draws nearer, many Cloud9 fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of several new players for the 2022 season. However, those same fans still have to wait a bit. The new head coach Nick “LS” De Cesare confirmed via stream that the team is ready to go into the preseason tournament without several members of the starting line-up.

The subject is not new to other teams in the LCS. Cloud9 has encountered the general visa problem that has plagued the league for the past few years. As it stands, Cloud9 will do without their Launch Top Laner Summit, Launch Bot Laner Berserker, and Launch Support for Winsome. Even head coach LS will not be personally at Lock In.

Fortunately for C9, they’ve had a backup plan for a while – whether they realized it or not. Cloud9 made a point of having a very competitive academy team in the off-season. Their goal was to have an academy team challenging the grid in internal scrims to improve every single player’s game. With recent news that some players will miss the lock-in tournament, C9 will be hoping their academy team will get on their feet a little earlier than expected.

Cloud9’s new roster for the lock-in tournament will be:

Above – darshan
Jungle blab
Middle – fudge
Bot link
Support – islands

As LS mentioned in a previous video, Zven took most of the training time away from K1ng – Cloud9’s second academy botlaner. With some already existing synergies, Cloud9 could prove that they can still hold their own despite the lack of a starting line-up.
