Chris Hemsworth will be Thor in the MCU for as long as possible

Chris Hemsworth would continue to play Thor after Thor 4 and Thor forever.

As the world prepares for Spider-Man No Way Home, it only makes sense for many MCU fans to ponder what has happened so far. Maybe even everything up to what is perhaps the most anticipated MCU movie yet. It’s been more than 13 years since Iron Man founded the MCU and more than a decade since Chris Hemsworth joined the ever-evolving lineup as Thor.

Hemsworth will return to the big screen at least one more time as Thor when Love & Thunder hits theaters sometime in 2022, if all goes according to plan. It also seems likely that the god of thunder was found in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 The year after we last saw him, he left with Star-Lord and the gang.

When Thor will last appear in the MCU, or at least Hemsworth’s portrayal of the OG Avenger, is still unclear. Even Hemsworth doesn’t know, or at least he’s not ready to reveal it since he was very shy while appearing on the Today Show. When asked by the presenters how much longer he would play Thor, the Australian actor replied that he was willing to do it as long as Marvel and Disney have him.

“Maybe. As long as they have me I’ll show up, but I feel like that kind of enthusiasm is wearing off,” Hemsworth said, whereupon the hosts jokingly cut him off with a chorus of no. The question was raised by Tom Holland, who recently signed up for three more Spider-Man films, which Hemsworth said his fellow Avenger is currently a little behind in terms of overall MCU appearances.

There are good reasons to believe that Hemsworth’s Thor may not be on the MCU for long. Colleagues from OG Avengers Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow were all left behind. There’s also the possibility that Hawkeye will join them at some point in its ongoing Disney + series. That just leaves Thor and Hulk. Whoever joins Stark and Co. is in the running. First.
