China has undergone one of the greatest upheavals before the previous one Dota Pro Circuit, and the same thing happened this year when several top teams shuffled their squads, Elephant completely disbanded and only PSG.LGD is immediately ready to head into the new year with a consistent track record.
With players like EHOME, Royal Never Give Up, and even the relative newcomer Xtreme Gaming getting some powerful additions in the free agency, China is likely the top-down most stacked region in DPC 2022.
Prize pool and format
Due to ongoing travel problems with some of the Chinese players who competed at The International 10 in Romania, the Chinese Winter Tour for DPC 2022 will not start their major league games until much later than other regions. However, the lower division is already underway and the league is slated to end around January 23rd.
During this period, 16 teams compete in both divisions in a round robin format to decide who will make it to the winter major and who will compete in which division for the second tour of the season. China and Western Europe get four invitations to the Winter Major, so there is tough competition for these top division teams.
Once the Winter Tour finishes its major, the top two top tier teams will be relegated to the bottom tier, with the top two bottom tier cadres advancing to take their places. In addition, the two bottom league leaders are relegated from the regional league to allow two new teams from an open qualification to compete on the next tour.
Overall, each regional league will have a total prize pool of $ 280,000 per tour, although DPC points will scale as the season progresses, giving teams more points as the season progresses to encourage continued excellence and give more teams a chance to win to qualify directly for TI11.
Teams to watch out for
LGD is still the favorite that not only comes from China but is likely to win everything for an extended period of time thanks to its enduring excellence. Even though they lost to Team Spirit in the TI10 grand final, they had an incredible season before that and seem ready to repeat it in 2022.
Every other top team in China, however, has made changes to their roster and at least some of those teams, namely Royal Never Give Up and Vici Gaming, look like they could cause real problems at any level if meshed early on. The same goes for Invictus Gaming and Team Aster, if Fade and Ori can blend in seamlessly with their respective new roster, which did so well last season.
The lower tier will also be highly competitive, with Xtreme looking like the early favorite to secure a spot in the upper tier for the next tour, while others like Aster.Aries and Sparking Arrow Gaming are also looking good with their revamped roster.
