C9 welcomes EG to Church of LS with Soraka middle, goes 2-0 to start LCS Spring Split 2022

In the third game of the day, LCS fans were treated to a wonderful sermon from Cloud9 as head coach Nick “LS” De Cesare produced a unique mid lane enchanter during his team’s game against Evil Geniuses today.

Star mid laner Fudge was used mid lane for Soraka, although it was his first time playing her against a pro League of Legends Stage. The Star Child was joined by Olaf, Camille, Aphelios, and Thresh, giving her plenty of high-damage allies to fuel her teamfights. Although the early game against Jojopyun’s Viktor pick was a bit difficult to maneuver, Soraka’s true strength showed when the multi-man battles started.

All Fudge had to do was continuously heal his carry teammates while Olaf ran rampant in the enemy backline and Aphelios ripped through the closest opponents. EG’s own top laner, Impact, tried his best to defend against Tryndamere, but there was far too much sustain for him and his team to counter.

In the final teamfight of the game, EG defeated Fudge in what appeared to be a winning situation. However, C9’s rookie AD Carry Berserker was unaffected. He then blasted EG away with a deadly chakram flow, finishing with a game-winning triple kill. He finished with Player of the Game honors and amassed eight kills and five assists without dying.

Cloud9 has now used two unique picks in his team composition, first Ivern in her mid lane match against Golden Guardians and now Soraka. Some fans have been excited to see LS’s philosophies in action on the big stage, and his strategies have been quite effective in the LCS so far.

EG, on the other hand, now has to go back to the drawing board and plan next week’s games against Team Liquid and Immortals. They also need to prepare for more crazy picks from Cloud9 if they ever face them in the future like in the playoffs.
