The sensor tower analytics group has published an interesting summary of the results of this year’s mobile communications market. It turns out, that in 2021 no fewer than eight games were available on the App Store and Google Play, generating revenues of over $ 1 billion. For comparison – only five productions managed that last year.
Mobile games with the best earnings of 2021
The leaders in the cellular market in 2021 were PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings. Each of these games grossed approximately $ 2.8 billion. The difference between the two was minimal, however PUBG Mobile was a little better. This battle royale shooter saw a 9% increase in sales compared to the previous year. On the other hand at Honor of kings the jump was 14.7%.
PUBG Mobile and other Tencent games can be conveniently played on PC with mouse and keyboard controls, thanks to the official emulator called GameLoop:

Third place went to Genshin Impact with $ 1.8 billion, and fourth place went to Roblox with $ 1.3 billion. Note that these numbers only apply to mobile versions. Either way, the total revenue is even higher as these titles are also available on PCs and consoles.
Analysts highlight the successful development of Genshin Impact. When Update 2.1 was released in September, weekly sales increased 500% compared to the seven days before the patch was released. It’s also worth noting that 2021 will be the best year ever for Pokemon GO.
Interestingly, Sensor Tower analysts believe that another game could cross the billion dollar mark by the end of December. It’s about Uma Musume Pretty Derby, which has already raised $ 965 million so far. What’s even more impressive is that the game debuted this February and is still only available in Japan.
Analysts predict that total mobile market revenue (only games available on the App Store and Google Play) will hit $ 89.6 billion this year, up 12.6% from 2020.
