In Shin Megami Tensei 5, you take on the role of a high school student who stumbles upon a post-apocalyptic Tokyo called Da’at and finally connects with a powerful being who enables you to change the fate of the world. There is a lot to see and do in Shin Megami Tensei 5, and it can take quite a while to see everything the game has to offer.
Even after you’ve rolled the credits, you have plenty of options to choose from, with new content, the different endings, and much more. However, some post-game options may not be clear to you at first, which makes things a little confusing or even frustrating.
New game plus
Once you’ve completed your first playthrough in Shin Megami Tensei 5, you’ll unlock the option to start a New Game Plus (NG +) so you can start the game over.
Unlike most games, however, there are two options for NG + that directly affect what you keep and what you lose when you roll back to the beginning of the game. One is seen as a little more sophisticated while the other makes things a lot easier.
With the Newborn NG + option, you can carry over your entire Demonic Compendium to the last boss fight in the game. If you choose this option, the affinities, attributes, and statistics of the daemon are inherited. It will also change the difficulty level, but it won’t be too unbearable. Selecting the Newborn NG + will erase everything that is stored in the Reborn NG + option (see below).
However, the Reborn NG + option allows you to transfer the main character’s skills, level, obtained demons, macca and items. While all of your demons lose their stats, you can start with endgame stats from the beginning, which makes progression easier overall. As with the Newborn NG + option, selecting the Reborn NG + option deletes everything that is contained in the Newborn NG + option (see above).
To get every wonder available in Shin Megami Tensei 5, the game must be completed multiple times.
These four additional wonders are pretty powerful and great for tackling some of the challenges that can arise in NG +, especially as you increase the difficulty. All post-game wonders can be found in the table below.
|Miracle name||Miracle effect||How to get|
|Divine Eminence||Allows you to negotiate with demons above your level.||Quit the game with any end.|
|Divine belief||Enemy demons have a chance to join you in the middle of battle.||Quit the game with any end.|
|Inheritance violation||Allows you to change a demon’s initial abilities as demon fusions progress.||Quit the game and lead the Maintain God’s order End.|
|Violation of rank||Removes the level limit in demon fusions.||Quit the game and lead the Recreate the world and save Tokyo End.|
Additional side quests
Side quests are an integral part of Shin Megami Tensei 5 and feature a variety of things that can give you an advantage in combat. And luckily, you only get more of this the first time you complete the game.
You can unlock and complete five new subquests in the aftermath, but each of them requires you to reach certain endings and meet certain requirements before you can complete them. The full list of additional side quests can be found in the table below, along with brief instructions on how to complete them and their rewards.
|Name of the side quest||Quest complete solution||Reward|
|The compassionate queen||
||Demon Fusion: Maria|
|The noble queen||
||Demon Fusion: Dan|
|Red Dragon Invitation||
||Demon Fusion: Belial|
|The seraph returns||
||Demon Fusion: Michael|
|The angry queen||

Like the additional miracles and side quests, you will also receive new demons when you complete the game for the first time and perform certain endings. To get every demon in Shin Megami Tensei 5 you will have to enter NG + and beat the game multiple times.
Other than that, the post-game demons are some of the best in the game so your efforts will be rewarded. You can get ten demons either by accessing NG + or by getting certain endings. The full list of these can be found in the table below. Please note that a mission required to obtain the demon is listed in the table above!

See every end
There are three regular endings and an additional one that is considered some kind of secret ending. The secret ending lets you complete a variety of side quests and find certain character attitudes to access them.
Each ending requires a specific focus on certain characters you meet during the game and has a huge impact on the outcome of the game. Below is a table of all the endings present in Shin Megami Tensei 5 and their requirements.
|Final name||Alignment||Character alignment|
|Maintain God’s order||law|

100% the game
After seeing each ending and receiving the new demons and wonders, there is still a lot to do in the world of Shin Megami Tensei 5. For example, you can get every collector’s item, get 100% in your demon compendium, and much more.
In addition, you can also complete any sub-quest in the game, which will allow you to get unique items, fight fascinating demons, and even meet some interesting characters. While it’s not necessary, getting 100% completion in Shin Megami Tensei 5 is quite an accomplishment and something to look for if you love your time with it!
