100 Thieves will sign Ec1s as leaders in the game

North American organization 100 Thieves will sign British in-game leader Adam “ec1s” Eccles as the in-game leader for their VALORANT list, several sources said upcomer and journalist Max “Purest” Katz said. Ec1s will likely move to North America to compete alongside its new 100 Thieves teammates.

100 Thieves is one of the many teams looking to make several changes over the course of the off-season. However, they were faced with one of the main problems with North American VALORANT: the marked shortage of qualified referees with years of experience in the game.

Importing players from other regions is typical of the North American esports scene, especially in League of Legends. Nevertheless, the VALORANT scene has developed successfully with North America as one of the most dominant regions in the game.

As a result, the players have high buyouts and the teams are not ready to let them go. 100 Thieves tried to sign several high profile players in North America, but many deals failed due to the buyout problem.

100 Thieves wanted to sign VALORANT champion and arguably the best player in the world, Mehmet “cNed” Yağız İpek from Acend, as was first reported by Upcomer, but the Turkish player decided to stick with his winning side.

This leaves 100 Thieves with one last roster change before the start of the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022, which will begin in the second half of January for North America. However, the open qualifiers in the EMEA region start a few weeks earlier.

100 Thieves made several changes over the course of the off-season, with former analyst Jovanni “Jovi” Vera being promoted to head coach following the release of former coach Hector “FrosT” Rosario. In addition, after the release of Nick “Nitr0” Cannella, the team had to find a new Jett player who will return to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive under Team Liquid.

As a result of the move, 100 Thieves will temporarily make the following list:

  • Ec1s
  • Spencer “Hiko” Martin
  • Ethan “Ethan” Arnold
  • Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk
  • Jovanni “Jovi” Vera (head coach)
